Socca Pizza with Purple Hummus

Looking for delicious socca pizza with a purple hummus recipe? Easy to make chickpea flour crust topped with creamy purple sweet potato hummus. Vegan and gluten-free type of dish. This recipe is also highly flexible; you can easily adjust the recipe to serve your family.




  • 1 cup chickpea flour
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • garlic powder optional
  • 1 pinch salt to taste


  • 8 grams roasted chickpeas
  • 8 grams of green peas
  • cashew or any other vegan cheese
  • white sesame seeds
  • chives
  • Thinly sliced avocado

Purple sweet potato hummus:

  • 1 cup roasted purple sweet potatoes peeled and roughly chopped
  • 3 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp toasted sunflower seeds
  • 1 tbsp toasted pumpkin seeds
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 2-3 tbsp olive oil
  • salt to taste



  1. Firstly, place your chickpeas in a coffee/spice grinder or high-speed blender, and grind them into a fine powder. Sieve the flour to remove any larger lumps, and then you can re-grind these too. Once ready, Cover with plastic wrap and let the mixture rest at room temperature for at least 2 hours.
  2. Preheat the oven to 200 °C. Line a 25 cm cake pan with baking paper and drizzle with a little bit of olive oil.
  3. Place the cake pan with olive oil into the oven. Once the oil gets really hot, pour the chickpea flour mixture into the pan and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and crispy.

Purple sweet potato hummus:

     Put all the ingredients in a high-speed blender and process until the mixture is smooth and creamy.

Roasted purple sweet potatoes:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C. Wash your sweet potatoes thoroughly and place them into a large strainer for them to dry.
  2. Place on a baking sheet and put them in the oven to bake for 30-45 minutes, depending on size.
  3. Check at 30 minutes by inserting a fork into the center. They should be soft. If not, return to the oven and check again in 10 minutes. Let them cool down a bit before peeling.


Once the socca is done, let it cool down a bit. Spread a layer of purple sweet potato hummus over the crust and top it with roasted chickpeas, green peas, avocado, chives, cashew, or any other vegan cheese, white sesame seeds. Also, you can spread some garlic sauce if desired.
